Sarcastic Movie Review: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2

Now speaking of the villain: Ego the living planet a.k.a. Peter’s dad a.k.a. David Hasselhoff(Why?). I’m guessing no one jumped up with shock when Ego turned out to be evil. I mean come on the guy is called Ego, try to be less on the nose. I wouldn’t say he was a very memorable villain, especially considering he’s peter’s dad. But then they can’t all have Darth Vader level father-son epicness I guess. Also he didn’t seem evil, but more unhinged which made the fact that they killed him of a bit sad.

Father of the year everyone

Which brings us to Peter’s real father figure, Yandu. Yandu was a character I really liked in the first Guardians, but I also believed that he was one of those characters that were fun in small doses. But boy was I wrong. Yandu’s character development was done beautifully and I was moved by his relationship with not only Peter but also Rocket. Also Yandu floating down shouting “I’m like Marry poppins y’all” was perhaps the sweetest part of the movie. And credit to Marvel for giving him such a touching and visually stunning funeral which may or may not have made me shed a tear.

In short Guardians of the Galaxy is not a movie you want to miss, even if you’re not a big Super Hero movie Fan, you’ll still love it for it’s amazing visuals, light hearted humour and well written story.
