5 creepiest clowns found across pop culture

I do not envy his barber

Violator (spawn)

When the devil himself decides he needs someone to train and show the ropes to his new hellspawn you can bet that he’s gone use the most evil and disturbing of his minions to do the job. So obviously he chose a clown. The violator is the oldest of the five Phlebiac brothers, a family of the finest demons from hell.

Did I say finest, I meant most disgusting

Along with being Spawn’s evil conscience and dressing up as a clown for kicks, he also has a special place in my heart for scarring my childhood with a scene in which he eats a pizza topped with live maggots in the 1997 Spawn movie, Not cool violator you ruined pizza’s for me (for about a week at least).

Twisty (American Horror story)

When famed Anthology series ‘American horror story’ decided to set its fourth season in a freak show, you can be sure that they’re going to add a creepy clown into their collection of characters. And boy did they deliver in the form of Twisty. After shooting half his face off with a shot gun for reasons way too messed up to get into, Twisty still showed dedication to his job and decided to continue his life as a children’s entertainer. But he understood his messed up face might scare the kids and took the smart decision of wearing a prosthetic mask.

This is the mask he chose

Sadly tasteful mask selection was not part of his curriculum in Clown College and he ended up looking way more terrifying than most big budget movie monsters.

Joker (Batman)

You didn’t think that there would be a list about mad clowns and it not have the clown prince of crime in it did you. The Joker is by far the most famous character to pull off the clown look and even turn it into something larger than life. While most of the clowns on this list are supernatural in nature, Joker in the end of the day is just a man. But surprisingly he is perhaps more terrifying than any hell powered clown out there and he has done the deeds to prove it. From killing Robin (the annoying Jason Todd version) to ripping the skin off his own face and then wearing it as a mask, there are no limits to which the Joker will go to for the sake of aggravating Batman.

And also for the LOLs

This agent of chaos has become an immortal icon with portrayals across comics, games and movies. With unforgettable performances of the character by Jack Nicholson and the late Heath Ledger (and a very forgettable one by Jared Leto) the joker has become one of the most recognizable villains of all time.
