But whatever relatability he has goes right out the window in the next scene when he gives a villain speech about how a large body count will be the best PR campaign ever. When are these villains going to realize no matter how just your cause seems, once you start a monologue about killing children and strangling puppies you’re just an asshole.
Other than him the rest of the cast all do their jobs, with Peters guy in a chair Ned being the standout comic relief through-out the show with his whirlwind romance being the most fun parts of the movie. Nick fury is also there but doesn’t really do much.
There’s an annoying scene where Spidy asks if any of the other Avengers can help, and Fury just says their all busy. Really there were enough Avengers to start populating Mars at the end of Endgame and every single one have important dentist appointments or some shit that they can’t come to stop a cataclysmic event.
“Sorry Fury. But it’s my cousin’s sister-in-laws wedding today, can’t avoid it”
And finally we have Spiderman himself, and like I said before he just seems a bit naïve. All he wants to do is go on his trip, and tell MJ how he feels and make out at the Eiffel tower. Which is all fine but Mate there is literal Kaiju sized monsters and a flying bobble head farting green gas to deal with can you stop thinking with your special web shooter till after you’re done with those threats.
But all this stands true to the character in a way, were instead of a larger than life super hero Spidy is just a hormonal teenager that can swing around the city like an urban Tarzan. And I loved the film, it’s a return to the MCU that everyone loves for what I wish was one last time, but isn’t. But to me the MCU roller-coaster has already peaked with Endgame. And everything that comes next is like a twix bar job after I’ve already eaten an entire chocolate cake. Appreciated but unnecessary.
