Top 5 least Creative Pokémon designs

Ah Pokémon! Who knew that drawing animals the wrong way a hundred-thousand times could lead to such a lucrative and popular franchise? The franchise along with it the roster of pocket monsters have grown quite a bit over the years with over 800 of the critters to collect now.

Needless to say with so many entries, no one expects every single one of them to be as iconic as Charizard or Pikachu, but then you look at some of these and clearly know that the designers weren’t even trying.

So here are 5 of the lamest designs that the Pokémon design team came up with, and I assure you they did not put in too much effort on these.

Vanillitte

Let’s start with the one that’s already a meme at this point, Vanillite and it’s evolutionary line is what you get when your Pokémon designers have been working too long on a really hot day.

Because then the only things going through their minds is going to be ice cream. And so it should not be a surprise when they decided to call it a day after drawing cartoon eyes on a bunch of Ice cream cones

The final form – Vanilluxe is definitely the worst of the three, because the Pokémon design team didn’t understand the saying “two heads are better than one” not realizing this is best suited when the heads are attached to separate bodies.(see also Weezing)

Klefki

Speaking of lazy designs, when crunch time hit one innovative designer seemed to rummaged around his pockets for imagination. And so we have Klefki the key pokemon, which – you guessed it – is a set of keys with a face on it.

I guess we should just be happy that he didn’t find a scrunched up piece of tissue paper in his pockets instead.

Probopass

Nosspass was a new rock type Pokémon introduced in Gen 3 and took it’s design inspirations from the giant rock head statues in the Easter islands, and it’s not a bad design at all.

But when they decided to give it an evolution in the later generations instead of going with maybe a cool larger stone golem type design, they decided to go with a giant floating head with googly eyes and a seventies hipster dad mustache instead.
