Top 5 Games based on Greek Mythology

Share what the Fox Says:

Greek Mythology is one of the great loves of my life, I mean it’s not like I’ve been working on a book series based on Greek mythology for ten years called the NEW WORLD ODYSSEY or anything. Oh wait that’s exactly what I did!

But Greek mythology has always acted as inspiration and an idea bucket for the modern era of pop culture for a while now. Whether it be, in books, movies and of course Video games!

So here are five games that you will definitely enjoy if you’re a fan of the gods of Olympus and all their many, many children.

Age of Mythology

Let’s start with a classic! The sister game of the insanely popular Ade of empire series, Age of mythology had you choose from the three factions of Egyptians, Norse and you guessed it Greek civilizations. Each one comes with an advancement that are heavily based on the gods of the respective civilization, and the Greek faction acts as a great gate way to the Olympian gods.

Remember when these graphics where mind blowing

It’s a pity that unlike Age of Empires, Age of Mythology never got a proper sequence (Jut the titan expansion) which sucks, cause I personally think Mythology was the better game. Mainly because it had Manticores in it!

Assassin Creed: Odyssey

The long running Assassin creed series has a reputation of going for more historical accuracy than mythology in its game, except towards the end with a deus ex machina item that acts as a blend of magic and technology

And here we have some actual mind blowing graphics

But AC Odyssey is where they decided to defer from the formula and lean more into the mythic side of things. Sure the first 20 hours of gameplay might trick you into thinking that this is more of a historic epic but once you get passed that you may have a run in with Poseidon’s trident and a Minotaur.

Immortals Fenyx Rising

Immortal Fenys Rising is another game you might be thinking has nothing to do with the Olympian gods, mainly because its name is utter nonsense. Seriously who named this, a five year old that sucks at scrabble?

I didn’t believe the game had anything to do with mythology till I saw Zeus here either

But get passed the stupid name and the story follows the demigod Fenyx on his quest to save the Olympian gods from the ancient evil ‘Typhoon’ which as mythology nerds will tell you is arguably a deep cut.
