So you just finished Demon Slayer, and suddenly this anime thing all the kids are talking about doesn’t sound too bad. Maybe you did misjudge this entire medium just because it has a passing resemblance to the cartoons you used to watch as a kid.
Maybe you are finally ready to admit a show with family murder, blood drinking and more beheadings than the French revolution is for a mature audience after all.
In which case here are 5 shows that are very similar to Demon Slayer that should scratch that action/world building/ supernatural itch you’ve been having.
Naruto
This story by Masashi Kishimoto’s tells the account of a young ninja named Naruto dressed in bright orange for some reason, hated by the village he lives in. but despite this his dream is to be the Hokage, the head of the village and we join him on his journey from a weak little scrub to one of the most powerful Ninja’s in the world. Along with Bleach and One Piece, Naruto is considered one of Shonen Jump’s Big 3.
Naruto was so famous it even ended up motivating an entire generation to do stupid things like the ‘Naruto run’ and is considered as one of the most famous Anime of all time.
Bleach
Another one of the big 3, Bleach tells the story of Ichigo Kurosaki, a teenager who ends up becoming a Soul Reaper by accident. Bleach is infamous for having a poor ending, but one cannot deny the influence the series has had. In fact concepts like the Hashira in demon slayer can be said to be inspired directly from the Gotei 13 in Bleach.
It is also easily one of the most stylish anime out there, with an art style you can’t help but find cool.
My Hero Academia
My Hero Academia envisions a world where people are born with superpowers. This leads to a world filled with superheroes and super Villains in a setting were anyone can be a hero.
