5 Fictional Weapons Capable of Destroying Entire Planets we’re Glad aren’t Real.

Well Oppenheimer has me thinking of mass destruction…again. the destructive power of an atomic bomb is nothing to scoff at, but as always the human imagination can always do better. So while the atom bomb can flatten cities, here are 5 weapons from science fiction capable of destroying entire planets we’re glad aren’t real.

In the realm of fiction, there are numerous weapons of mass destruction that have been depicted as immensely powerful and capable of causing catastrophic destruction. Here are five examples of some of the most renowned and devastating weapons of mass destruction in fictional universes:

Death Star (Star Wars):

The Death Star is a moon-sized space station with a super-laser capable of destroying entire planets. It is a symbol of the Galactic Empire’s overwhelming power and serves as a primary threat in the Star Wars universe.

Perhaps one of the most iconic examples, the Death Star is a massive space station armed with a super-laser capable of obliterating entire planets. The Galactic Empire constructed multiple Death Stars, and they played a significant role in the original Star Wars trilogy.

The Genesis Device (Star Trek):

The Genesis Device is a powerful technology in the Star Trek universe capable of transforming a lifeless planet into a habitable one. However, when misused, it can also be used as a destructive force capable of obliterating entire worlds.

This powerful terraforming device can however  be weaponized to destroy planets by causing radical, uncontrollable terraforming processes.

The Mass Relays (Mass Effect series):

In the Mass Effect series, the Mass Relays are ancient and powerful devices that allow for faster-than-light travel and communication across the galaxy. When manipulated or destroyed, they can cause widespread devastation, disrupting interstellar civilization.

Though not traditionally planet-destroying weapons, the mass relays in the Mass Effect series are powerful ancient constructs capable of moving entire fleets across the galaxy or causing devastating supernovas when misused.

The Nova Bomb (Halo):

In the Halo universe, the Forerunners built the Halo Array, a series of ring-like installations known as Halos. When activated together, they form a galactic super-weapon called the Nova Bomb, which eradicates all sentient life in the galaxy to starve the parasitic Flood.
