No Man Sky: Cosmos (Update 7.0) is Out for Now For Free!

No Man Sky: Cosmos is out now! and it’s a pretty huge free Update. This game over it’s 10 years has become one of the most value for money game ever, especially in today’s gaming market filled with micro transactions and paid DLC.

‘Hello Games’ calls it No Man’s Sky Update 7.0, released September 09 – 2026, as part of the game’s 10th anniversary. The main focus is making the space around planets feel like an actual place rather than a loading area between planets.

New Updates give:

• A new star-system map showing planets and deep-space points of interest.
• Asteroid belts and ice fields to explore and mine.
• Derelict space hulks that you can strip for salvage before they fall apart.
• Deep-space outposts, including infested ones.
• Space stations that you can actually become director of.
• Station construction and decoration, letting you customize your station with hundreds of parts.
• Galactic alliances where players can co-op or compete to build up territory.

And perhaps the biggest feature: You can own and manage a Space Station

You can become the director of a station, customize its central lobby, expand it with additional rooms and decorate the exterior.

There are also Alliance leader boards, so your multiplayer group can compete to become one of the most populous, active or expansive alliances.

Also you can fly to the SUN.

Stars are now reachable through long-haul flight. You can attempt to fly toward one, although unsurprisingly, getting extremely close to a giant ball of plasma is considered a bad idea.

Spacewalking got much better

You can now leave your ship directly in space using the Quick Menu, with enhanced six-degrees-of-freedom movement. There’s also a new tractor beam for Corvette class ships, allowing you to grab and process physical salvage and minerals.

And there’s some Cosmic horror to boot!

Cosmos adds Infested Outposts, where biological goop has taken over deep-space structures.

You can go inside, clear the infestation and collect things like pathogen sacs and gelatinous fibres.

The 10th Anniversary Expedition for long time single players

Alongside Cosmos is the Our Journey Continues expedition. This is probably the coolest bit for long time players. The expedition takes you through the history of No Man’s Sky, with milestones representing major updates from the game’s journey since 2016. It even includes developer commentary from Sean Murray explaining the game’s history.

Some technical upgrade: Cosmos (7.0) also brings improvements to water, clouds, fog, planets, asteroids, lighting and performance. PC players get support for Intel XeSS 3 and NVIDIA DLSS 4.5

Cosmos looks like one of the most significant No Man’s Sky updates in years.
