5 cursed items in video games you shouldn’t pick up.

Video games love giving us mysterious items and telling us to pick them up without asking questions. Usually, that’s how you get a cool weapon, a useful power-up, or some rare loot. But sometimes, you get something that makes you immediately regret having an inventory.

From eyeballs disguised as grapes to weapons that scream at you, these are 5 cursed video game items nobody should ever pick up.

1. The Shabby Doll (Silent Hill 4)

The Shabby Doll is cursed because Silent Hill apparently decided that even ordinary toys needed to be terrifying.

Found in Silent Hill 4: The Room, the doll is connected to the disturbing events surrounding Walter Sullivan and the game’s increasingly nightmarish story. Like everything else in this franchise, it looks innocent enough until you realize that absolutely nothing in Silent Hill is ever just a normal object.

It’s the kind of thing you find in an abandoned location and immediately think, “Yep, I’m definitely taking this with me.”

And that’s exactly the sort of decision that gets horror protagonists into trouble.

A normal person would leave the creepy doll where it was. it serves no purpose other than to cause a particular haunt to occur. Should Henry accept the doll and put it into his inventory, a haunting will eventually manifest above the box

The real lesson here is simple: if an abandoned location contains a creepy doll, leave it alone. You don’t need it. Your inventory does not need it. Your soul definitely doesn’t need it.

2.The One Ring (The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age)

Technically, the One Ring isn’t just a cursed item. It’s the cursed item.

Sure, it makes you invisible and comes with some impressive supernatural benefits. Unfortunately, it also turns its owner into a paranoid little goblin who desperately wants to possess it forever.

In The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, the Ring represents exactly the kind of loot that would cause problems in any RPG. You see something legendary, your gamer brain screams “PICK IT UP,” and suddenly you’re responsible for destroying an ancient evil.

The problem with cursed loot is that the stats are usually fantastic.

The side effects? Apocalyptic.

3. The Bane  (Borderlands 2)

The Bane is proof that not every legendary weapon is actually worth having.

On paper, this unique SMG sounds fantastic. In reality, it comes with a spectacularly annoying curse: whenever you equip it, your character starts screaming and moving painfully slowly.

And not just occasionally. The Bane constantly subjects you to its ridiculous voice effects while turning your normally mobile Vault Hunter into someone moving through quicksand.

The weapon can deal serious damage, but that’s a tough sell when every firefight sounds like your character is being tortured by an extremely enthusiastic sound engineer.

It’s one of those weapons that makes you ask an important question:

“How much damage is worth listening to this?”

The answer is probably not enough.
