Meme Collection: Wolverine (2026) PS5 Launch Controversy

The weeks leading to the launch of Wolverine (2026) PS4 has been interesting to say the least. From being one of the most anticipated games of the year, it’s launch is now mired in controversy because of various eyebrow raising reasons. but as always no matter the final quality of the game, at lest the internet got some memes out of it. 

So let’s take a look at the main points of the controversy :

1.The “hand-holding” Complaint:

This is probably the biggest gameplay criticism you’re referring to. Players complained that the game frequently tells you what to do rather than letting you figure it out. Through mission markers, prompts, and characters verbally explaining actions.

One particularly mocked feature is the scent-tracking system, which highlights where you’re supposed to go. Online commenters have jokingly referred to the visual trail as “fart gas.”

2. “Ugly” Character Designs:

Some players complained that certain characters especially secondary characters—looked less attractive or less stylized than expected from a big-budget Marvel game. Critics have also noted that some secondary character designs don’t always land.

But beauty is in the eye of the beholder so you decide if they get a pass.

3. Short campaign & High price:

Players have complained that the main story is relatively short for a full-priced AAA game. After paying premium price, some expected a much longer experience. The game launched at a premium AAA price of 70$, which makes the short runtime feel worse. The argument is basically: If you’re charging this much, give me more game.

This gets more true with each passing day

People expected a brutal, mature Wolverine game that would trust the player, but some feel Insomniac delivered a very polished but overly guided, cinematic experience, with questionable character designs and dialogue that sometimes feels too sanitized or explanatory.
