7 Must know Monsters from Greek Mythology

The Greeks were masters of storytelling. We all know the stories of Hercules and Perseus, but what about the other mythical creatures that lurk in Greek mythology? Their myths and legends are some of the most fascinating and well-known in the world. And while some of their tales are relatively tame, others are absolutely terrifying, mainly because it’s filled with horrific monsters from your worst nightmares.

So, without further ado, here are the seven terrifying Greek mythology monsters:

7. The Minotaur

This creature was said to be half-man, half-bull, and lived in the dark labyrinth beneath the palace of Knossos. Every nine years, seven young men and seven young women were sent into the labyrinth to be devoured by the Minotaur. The labyrinth on the Island of Crete. Anyone who dared to enter the labyrinth was either devoured by the Minotaur or became hopelessly lost.

6. The Furies

These three monstrous women were said to pursue and torture anyone who dared to commit a crime. They had razor-sharp claws and snakes for hair, and their faces were so horrifying that anyone who looked upon them would be driven insane. These monstrous women were said to be spirits of vengeance that took revenge on those that have sinned beyond redemption against the gods.

5. Scylla

Scylla was a monstrous sea creature with twelve feet, six heads, and four rows of sharp teeth. She lived in a cave overlooking the Strait of Messina and would devour any sailors who came too close. This creature was said to dwell in a cave on the island of Sicily. She was said to devour anyone who came too close to her cave.

4. The Hydra

The Hydra was a monstrous serpent with nine heads, one of which was immortal. It lived in the swamps of Lerna and would often attack travelers. When one of its heads was cut off, two more would grow in its place.
